PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIAL: The book contains about 150 photographs. The period's photographs are mainly in black and white, coming from personal or official archives and are rare and published for the first time. The colour photographs of the book's second part, are from an itinerary of Leros island presenting what remains from the defensive fortifications of the Italian occupation period and visiting the places that the most important battles took place. Also included two maps describing the operations and tree maps with itineraries that a traveller can follow in order to visit the historic places and see the remainings of the warfare infrastructures made by the Italians.
